If you race, you'll be looking for a coach to help you ride faster in any number of environments road, circuit or time trial or perhaps a combination of all of those if your focus is stage racing. Fast is good. As the old saying goes - speed kills, but only if used it in the right place at the right time.
You're likely to have clear goals and will understand what success looks like to you but it will be highly individualised. It might be about race results, times, getting on to a national program, increasing your power output or developing over a longer period if you aim to be a professional rider. You'll maximise your chances of success by dedicated purposeful training aimed at optimising your physiological, technical and tactical abilities. Sounds pretty dry doesn't it? But successful training needs to be engaging and fun to stop you from going crackers in the process. It's easy to burn out by doing too much of wrong type of riding too soon - the focus needs to be on quality and long term sustainable, resilient development. Finding out what really motivates you is vital to success.
