RideFast Coaching is me, Rich Smith. Hello...
I'm a British Cycling (UKCC) qualified Level 3 Road and Time Trial coach and a Level 2 Track coach.
I coach the Great Britain Transplant Cycling team and I have competed internationally with them since 1999. I have 6 world road race titles and 6 world time trial titles to my name including the fastest recorded 5k in World Transplant games history set in Nancy, France in 2003.
In the real world, I compete for fun as an ageing 3rd Cat road racer, a middle marking time trialist and track rider. I'm actively involved in the cycling scene in the Midlands as a member of Wolverhampton Wheelers Cycling Club and Mamil Cycling Ltd. I live in Bridgnorth, Shropshire.
I coach both male and female riders locally, nationally and internationally. I have been involved in British Cycling's Regional and National schools of racing helping some of the very best young riders realise their potential. I have led structured training camps in Mallorca since 2009.
As part of my continuing professional development, I recently attended the Power: Understanding Cycling Performance workshop with British Cycling to ensure I'm getting the maximum out of those riders I coach who, as I do, use power measurement in their training and racing programmes. Similarly, I have just completed the Foundation course run by the national governing body for Strength & Conditioning coaches in the UK, the UKSCA, to learn more about how off the bike training in strength, flexibility and core can make you a better cyclist.
I've learned to get as much as possible from a small engine with my own cycling and I understand the demands of riding at all levels. My aim as a coach is to get the most out of you as a rider irrespective of age, status, sex or category and, ultimately, to help you achieve your goals.
